How to reach the festival location of thedesertsisters
We offer a shuttle service to and from the last small desert town called Foum Zguid. From here you will need a 4x4 and an experienced driver as our festival location is about 70 km and a 2 hours drive away from Foum Zguid.
How to get to Foum Zguid
Airport
The nearest airport is Ouarzazate. From there you can take a bus, Grand Taxi or come by car (see options below).
Bus
Marrakech: There are direct buses from Marrakech (Bab Doukala) to Foum Zguid twice a day. The journey takes about 8 hours. It's the easiest and cheapest way. Tickets can only be bought at the bus station - we recommend buying your ticket a day in advance to make sure you get a seat.
Grand Taxi
The Grand Taxi is a shared taxi and a very common way of travelling in Morocco and you can go almost anywhere with them. You may have to change taxis a few times, for example from Marrakech 2 times (Marrakech - Ouarzazate - Taznakht - Foum Zguid).
Car
Of course you can come in your own car or hire a car. But please note that you can only drive as far as Foum Zguid. After that, it is not possible to continue with a normal car to our festival location. Even with a 4x4 you need experience to drive. We don't recommend driving alone and you do so at your own risk. Also be aware that there may be snow in the High Atlas mountains at the end of October. If you come with your own/rented car please contact us for a parking space in Foum Zguid.
